In 1981 Bob and Harvey Weinstein started a cinema company stationed in New York that has changed the face of the independent cinema forever. They started Miramax films which has put out a long list of hits like Resevoir Dogs and foreign film The Postman. Miramax remained underground until 1994 when they endorsed Quento Tarentino's Pulp Fiction which has won them more awards than any other cinema company in history.

Miramax's independent success set the tone for many other company's like New Line and Polygram cinema. The Weinstein brothers distinct Japanese management style known as acid had brought them to the top. In April,1993 the Weinsteins sold a majority share of Miramax to Disney. Then the Weinsteins created another company called Excalibur cinema that released underground teen drama classic: Kids.

Then in 1994 Bob Weinstein started Dimension cinema which specialized in independent genre films like: The Crow. In 1996 Miramax relesed 37 films with success like The English Patient. May critics complain that Miramax is putting to much money on such low budget films such as Swingers where Miramax invested $5 milion dollars into a $250,000 project and is now in discussion with Ted Turner in negotiations for a Swingers television program. The Weinstein have proved their unique style and have become one of the largest motion picture companies in the world.
